Break & Lunchtimes

Pupils are not allowed to bring sweets, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks to school.

At morning break time, pupils are encouraged to enjoy a snack – this should be a fruit portion or a vegetable.

Should your child have additional dietary requirements, an alternative snack must be agreed by the school and parents/carers.

In EYFS:

At morning break your child will receive a free fruit snack each day and a free portion of milk (if requested).

Milk is provided free of charge for all children under the age of 5 and we will arrange this for you, if requested on the Admissions Form. For children over the age of 5, milk can be provided at a small cost. Please visit www.coolmilk.com for further details.

EYFS and KS1:

At lunchtime all children in Year R - 2 are entitled to a free hot school meal, which are cooked on site and we expect all of the children to have this.

Hot school meals need to be ordered 7 days in advance, by using the Local Food Links website.

There is a choice of three main courses each day and a pudding.  Special diets can be catered for.

If you decide to provide a packed lunch for your child, this should contain a nourishing sandwich/roll (or similar), a drink in a plastic container, fruit etc. Crisps may be eaten at lunchtime, but no sweets.  Please make sure you don’t pack too much or your child won’t have chance to get some fresh air and play time.

Children eat their lunch in the hall with their class and are looked after by our lunchtime supervisors. Quiet conversation and good table manners are expected and we reserve the right to exclude pupils who disrupt our lunchtimes.

Benefits Related Free school meals are available for children whose families receive qualifying benefits.

Your eligibility for free school meals can be checked quickly and easily by applying online at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk  Please ask at the school office if you would like help with this.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE DO HAVE CHILDREN IN SCHOOL WITH SEVERE ALLERGIES AND SO WE HAVE A ‘NO NUT’ POLICY.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT WITH THIS.

Treats

Some parents like to send in a treat for the class on their child’s birthday.  If you plan to do this, please observe our ‘no nut’ policy.  Cakes or small sweets are preferable on these occasions; please do not send lollipops.
