Home Learning for week beginning 13th July 2020
Hello Year 2,
Welcome back to our last week of the Summer Term!
We would like to take this time to tell you how enormously proud we are of each and every one of you. We have really enjoyed seeing all of your hard work and talents at school and whilst you have been at home. You have all shown a great deal of resilience and perseverance in these confusing and nerving times. We also want to take this time to all the new teachers out there! Thank you, grown-ups, who have helped and supported your child’s learning by working with them. We might be ‘magpie-ing’ a few ideas! We really appreciate everything that you have done.
As we mentioned last week, there is a TTRS Top of the Rocks Tournament running and we are currently in 3rd place! Let’s see if you can keep earning points. Perhaps we may even make it to 2nd or 1st place!
On Wednesday at 4:30pm, please remember that there is another opportunity to meet your new class teacher for September on a Zoom call.
Please also check your emails for our final Year 2 class Zoom calls. We are really looking forward to speaking to you all.
As always, please find your learning under the relevant icons including writing an important letter to your new class teacher.
Year 2 – you are all fantastic! We have loved teaching you all and wish you a wonderful summer break. We know that you will have an amazing time in Year 3 and look forward to seeing you around the school in September!
Best wishes

Home Learning wb 22nd June 2020
Hi Year 2!
Hopefully we'll be enjoying some lovely sunshine this week...! Fingers crossed!
We've updated your home learning tasks for this week. As always, you don't have to do everything, pick what works for your family and remember you don't have to print everything to be able to do the work.
Hopefully, lots of you have been working on TT Rockstars to see which class are the best at their timetables... we will find out the results later on today (Monday) so there's still some time to get your class score up!
It's been lovely to see some of you at school and lots of others on our zoom calls. We do still miss you though.
Miss Applegate, Mrs Winter and Mrs King

We have also set up a 'Battle of the Bands' on TT Rockstars between Sea Turtles and Rainbow Fish! It starts on Monday and ends the following Monday (22nd) and we will find which class has been practising their timetables! Good luck, and may the best class win....
Remember you don't need to print sheets to complete the activities.
If you've got any questions, please send us an email.
Have a great week! We miss you!

A'Top of the Rocks' TTRS tournament has been organised between Dunbury, Blandford St Mary, Milldown, Spetisbury and ABW.
In order to be crowned champions of this tournament, we need EVERYONE to work together to earn as many points as possible. Now lets show what we can do. We believe in you!
Home learning for the week beginning 11th May 2020
Happy Monday, and welcome to some more home learning tasks for you to use as you wish.
The writing task this week is a good chance for you to see if you can remember some of the vital skills for Year 2. The majority of you were getting really good at doing this without thinking about it, please do use the adjective word mats to help choose words to make your story as interesting as possible. If you are having difficulty with this task, please don’t feel worried! We have also included a document entitled ‘Help! (Sentence Dr) writing alt’, where we are asking you to make sure each sentence is made to feel better using your super sentence skills. There are many common exception words that are spelt wrong, (AGH!) so it’s a great task for all abilities and particularly for spelling and correct use of High-5 sentences. There is reading guidance document in the reading tab that further explains the task for this week.
We have uploaded a maths task aimed to be fun and stress-free, revolving around position and direction. There are lots of helpful videos and quizzes, and an activity that will hopefully get the whole household giggling! MyMaths lessons are also available and we have uploaded extra topics. As mentioned last week, White Rose Hub are also continuing with their lessons, but they are no longer providing access to the worksheets so please let us know if you would like us to send these to you by emailing us detailing the specific lesson. If we have lots of requests, we will just upload them next week but we didn’t want to overwhelm you with documents!
We have also included some Geography, RE and Science activities that you can get to by clicking the 'Other' tab. If you are yet to discover ‘Developing Experts’ for all things science, we would highly recommend you give it a go. There has been lots of positive feedback from those who have tried it, and we can see how well you do.
We hope that you are all safe and well and enjoying the glorious sunshine. Remember to read with your adults and listen to them reading great stories to you is so good for you. Keep practising those times tables, and working hard on EdShed.
Missing you lots!
Miss Applegate, Mrs Winter and Mrs King
Home learning for the week beginning 4/05/2020
Welcome to another week of home learning activities!
As with the last few weeks, we have put a range of activities on the website for you to use. These are here as guidance and for however you choose to use them, should you require them. We know that lots of you are following the White Rose Hub maths lessons, in conjunction with BBC Bitesize videos. That is great, however, be aware that as of next week you will no longer be able to access the worksheets associated with the lesson. We can, of course, provide you with these worksheets if you should require them, but we are unsure of the numbers and if you are on a different week of learning etc. We have done a sum-up of all things statistics for our Maths activities this week.
We would like to remind you that these activities are not mandatory, and are designed to help you keep your children engaged with their learning with short, fun challenges. We do require that you continue to read with and to your child - one of these at least each day - and that you continue to practise the 2, 3, 5, 10 x timetables.
We hope that you enjoy the activities this week and find them useful. As usual, if there are any questions please email us on our class emails. We are hoping to see some brave Year 2's showing off their poetry performance skills...!
Thank you to all those of you who are posting to the blog, it puts a huge smile on our faces and helps us from missing you too much!
Take care and hopefully the sun will remember to come out a bit more this week.
All the best
Miss Applegate, Mrs Winter and Mrs King
Evren's poem - a great performance!

Performing Poetry

Wren's Poem

Arya's poem

Some example poems for you to perform.
Home Learning for the week beginning 27th April
We hope that you enjoyed some of the home learning tasks we set you last week.
It was great to see some of your learning outcomes on our class blogs.
Each week we will be uploading a variety of different tasks for you to work on at home. There is no expectation that you complete every activity. The important thing is that you complete what you can to the best of your ability and enjoy your learning. Please remember to use the blog to share photos of all the great work you are doing. Remember we are always just an email away if you have any queries.
Also, we appreciate that not all of you have access to a printer. Therefore, there is no requirement to print the any PowerPoints, worksheets or answer sheets. You can look at these online and then record your answers in your homework books or use your imagination to present your learning in other creative ways.
We are missing you lots!
Best wishes,
Miss Applegate, Mrs Winter and Mrs King

Keepy Up challenge!
I'm sure lots of you would be really good at this! It doesn't have to be a football - you can use anything you want. Just try to do as many as you can at 10am on Wednesday this week. If someone can video you doing it, I'd love to see it on the blog!
Some great ideas to help our children manage their anxiety.
